Haglund's deformity refers to a condition where pain is experienced
at the rear of the foot where the Achilles tendon inserts into
the heel. This condition is usually caused by wearing high heels
and is therefore more common in females.

This problem can be treated with ice packs or by wearing sensible
shoes. Heel pads, grips and foot orthotics (special insoles) are
also good methods of relieving pain. However surgery can sometimes
be required where the bone has become enlarged and inflamed, followed
by cast immobilisation.
