Whether its snow, ice or slush, road conditions like this make
walking a laborious and often a dangerous business, but the shoe spike
accessories SPIKY provide welcome assistance.
Spikys are rubber soles featuring steel spikes in the sole and heel
areas, worn over the shoes in order to provide anti-slip protection,
thus helping to prevent accidents. Thats why more and more companies and
public-sector institutions are equipping their staff with these
essential additions to the personal safety kit.
Spikys are also increasingly popular in private households. They
could hardly be simpler to fit: two quick movements, and once again you
have got both feet firmly on the ground. SPIKY offers anti-slip
protection in the sole area, and is particularly suitable for ladies
footwear with a small heel surface.
Ideal for: outdoor workers, people who work on timber, deep freeze
workers, outdoor enthusiasts, ice rink staff and anyone who is active
outdoors in the winter months.
Exactly the same as the above Spiky PLUS, but only has traction spikes in sole area of the unit.

These anti slip devices are great. I live on a steep hill and due to the lack of gritting on the pavement over the past few weeks, the formation of sheets of ice has been treacherous to say the very least. The spikes on these do not appear impressive looking at the picture but I can assure you that they actually work. They have been a God send. When you are walking on clear pavments, they do make a loud crunching noise which gives the deceptive impression to those around you that you are actually making your way along ice when in fact you are not! When more supplies are made available I will be buying some more. I intend to keep a pair in the car and a pair at work so that I dont get caught short. The grippers easily slip over flat shoes and mould quite well over my round toed timberlands. These are fantastic value for money and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

I've had a pair of these for 3 or 4 years. I live at the top of a hill in Sheffield and get them out anytime there's a heavy frost or worse, like this week. They haven't let me down yet. Instead of picking my way down the hill I can walk confidently. The only thing to be aware of is that if you walk over rubber (on a bus) or vinyl flooring you sink in and (I assume) leave little holes in your wake. On clear pavements you make quite a loud clicking sound, but they are very easy to pull off once all danger of slipping has passed.

When winter brings the snow and ice it yields a landscape that is both picturesque yet potentially deadly. Slips, trips and falls account for 15% of all accidental deaths, second only to automobile fatalities, and icy surfaces are a major cause of this. read more
